Introduction
When it comes to health problems, there is no difference between human beings and animals, for both suffer if proper care and attention are not paid. The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation (SSSO) Jammu & Kashmir has been continuously involved, for many years, in many social-oriented activities. In 2013 the activities were diversified, and sincere attempts were made to render social service along with health care.
Selection of areas for medical help
In 2013, two districts – Samba and Katura – have been taken up for offering medical and veterinary camps, to provide “medi-care” to human beings and animals.
People living in these areas were in dire need of free medical check-ups, treatments, and medicines due to extremely poor economic conditiond and having low education levels. In Jammu district, the villages chosen were on the Pakistan border – Chakrali, Tokarian, Flora, Marh, Baspur Bonglow, and others. An estimated 558 people were given free medical treatment and medicines.
Veterinary camps
Under this project, free dosing and vaccinations are being provided to the cattle, and positive results were noticed. The cattle started eating more grass and became free of both foot and mouth diseases. These camps treated 858 cattle.
Dental care
Dental care was extended to village Marh in Jammu district, and 118 patients were treated and given free medicines.
